What are Odyssey Putter Replacement Inserts?

Odyssey putter replacement inserts are designed to replace the worn-out inserts on an Odyssey putter. The inserts are made from different materials, such as urethane, aluminum, and polymer, and they offer different levels of feel and feedback to the golfer. The replacement inserts come in different shapes and sizes to fit specific Odyssey putter models, and they can be easily installed by the golfer or a professional club fitter.

Types of Odyssey Putter Replacement Inserts:

Odyssey offers several types of putter replacement inserts, each with its unique characteristics and benefits:

  1. White Hot Pro Insert: This insert is made from a multi-layered urethane material that provides a soft feel and consistent roll. It has a textured surface that helps to reduce skid and promotes a true roll.
  2. Metal-X Insert: This insert is made from aluminum and has a cross-hatch texture that provides a crisp feel and improved feedback. The metal material also helps to create a more consistent roll.
  3. Microhinge Insert: This insert features small hinges that flex and rebound at impact to create a better forward roll. It also has a thermoplastic elastomer layer that provides a soft feel and enhanced feedback.
  4. Stroke Lab Insert: This insert is made from a polymer material and features a soft outer layer that provides a comfortable feel. It also has a firmer inner layer that promotes a consistent roll and improved distance control.

Benefits of Odyssey Putter Replacement Inserts:

The benefits of replacing worn-out putter inserts with Odyssey replacement inserts include:

  1. Improved Feel: The right insert can provide a golfer with a more comfortable and responsive feel, which can increase confidence and help to make more putts.
  2. Enhanced Feedback: The different insert materials and textures can provide a golfer with improved feedback, allowing them to better gauge the speed and direction of their putts.
  3. Consistent Roll: The inserts are designed to promote a consistent roll, which can help to reduce skid and improve accuracy.

How to Choose the Right Odyssey Putter Replacement Insert?

When choosing the right Odyssey putter replacement insert, there are a few factors to consider:

  1. Putter Model: It’s important to choose an insert that is compatible with your Odyssey putter model. Odyssey replacement inserts are designed to fit specific putter models, so be sure to check the compatibility before purchasing.
  2. Material: The material of the insert can affect the feel and feedback of the putter. Consider the feel you prefer and the type of greens you typically play on. For example, if you play on fast greens, you may want an insert with a firmer material to promote a more consistent roll.
  3. Texture: The texture of the insert can also affect the feel and feedback. Consider if you prefer a smooth or textured surface and if you want an insert that reduces skid.
  4. Putting Style: Your putting style can also influence your choice of insert. If you have a more aggressive stroke, you may want an insert with a firmer material and a textured surface to provide more feedback. If you have a smoother stroke, you may prefer a softer material and a smoother surface for a more comfortable feel.

Installation of Odyssey Putter Replacement Inserts:

Replacing the insert on an Odyssey putter is a straightforward process that can be done by the golfer or a professional club fitter. Here are the basic steps:

  1. Remove the old insert: Use a heat gun or a hairdryer to heat up the old insert and soften the adhesive. Gently pry the insert out with a putty knife or a similar tool.
  2. Clean the putter head: Use a solvent such as acetone to clean the putter head where the new insert will be installed.
  3. Install the new insert: Apply a small amount of epoxy adhesive to the back of the new insert and press it into place on the putter head. Use a putter press or a similar tool to ensure a secure fit.
  4. Let the adhesive cure: Allow the adhesive to cure according to the manufacturer’s instructions before using the putter.

  1. The Odyssey 2-ball putter was not listed. Is this because the white pieces would be ruined when removing the insert?

    • I appreciate your interest in my blog post about Odyssey putter replacement inserts. Regarding your question about the Odyssey 2-ball putter, it was not specifically listed in the post because it does not have a removable insert. The Odyssey 2-ball putter features a unique design with two white balls on the top, and the insert is not intended to be removed or replaced. Removing the insert could potentially damage the white pieces and compromise the performance and aesthetics of the putter.

However, if you have any other Odyssey putter model that is compatible with replacement inserts, I highly recommend considering the options mentioned in the post. The various insert materials and textures offered by Odyssey can significantly enhance feel, feedback, and consistency on the green. If you have any further questions or need more information, please feel free to ask. Happy golfing!

  3. Hi there, if someone wants to replicate Jon Rahm’s putter then would it be possible?
Looks like there are minor differences in dimensions between white hot insert and microhinge star insert.

    Is there anyway around this?

  4. I have the two ball and you say it can’t be replaced because of the top inserts.

If I am not worried about them can’t the face insert be replaced, somehow after many years and hundreds and hundreds of rounds the face itself has a chip out of it. Hate to through it away. Will any of the others fit, I’ll worry about the top inserts.
